Summary: On market street, a young boy buys items that start with the letters of the alphabet. Each item is displayed as if a person's body and clothes were made out of many of the item. The words used for the ABCs are more of the typical ABC fare: apples, books, clocks.
Ideas for use in library:
Children draw people adorned with items of their choice for the letters; compare and contrast with other ABC books; discuss the items found where we usually shop (grocery, mall, etc);

Special features: Note about author and illustrator at end tells that the book was "inspired by the Children's Book Week poster which Anita Lobel created in 1977."
